Officers received reports of gunfire at 8:12 p.m. local time on Saturday — 2:12 a.m. Sunday Danish time. Authorities later confirmed that at least six individuals had been struck by bullets.

"Unfortunately, two people have been pronounced deceased," Toronto police stated in a post on the social media platform X. Officials did not provide additional details regarding the condition of the wounded.

The incident occurred in an area that had been closed to vehicle traffic for the recurring cultural celebration. The Toronto Sun reported that the shooting took place during the festival, which is held each year in the Canadian city.

Initially, police described the situation as an active shooting. They later indicated that the scene had been secured.

As of Saturday evening local time, no arrests had been made. A significant police presence remained at the cordoned-off location while investigators continued their work. Authorities urged members of the public to avoid the area.
