A Toronto police officer has been charged with sexual assault and several related offences against a girl, ca.news.yahoo.com reports, citing Ontario's Special Investigations Unit.

SIU director Joseph Martino stated he has reasonable grounds to believe Const. Parsa Hazeri, 27, committed crimes against the victim in Toronto between September and December 2025.

Hazeri was taken into custody Thursday morning at SIU headquarters, appeared at a bail hearing, and was subsequently released under a number of conditions — including a ban on any direct or indirect contact with the alleged victim.

In addition to sexual assault, Hazeri faces charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, communicating with a person under 16 for the purpose of facilitating an offence, breach of trust, careless use of a firearm, and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under the age of 16.

Suspended and facing termination

Toronto police confirmed Hazeri was assigned to 33 Division and had three years of service at the time of his arrest.

Spokesperson Stephanie Sayer said the service became aware of the complaint in January and immediately notified the SIU. "The same day, the officer was suspended in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act, removed from operational duties, and had his police authorities revoked," Sayer said.

Following the laying of charges, Chief Myron Demkiw initiated proceedings to terminate Hazeri's employment and served notice of suspension without pay under section 210 of the Act.

"As this matter is now before the courts, we will not be commenting further on the allegations," Sayer said.

Hazeri is scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on July 17.

The SIU declined further comment given the matter is before the courts. The agency is mandated to investigate incidents involving police and civilians that result in serious injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.
