Toronto officer shot dead in raid tied to U.S. Consulate investigation

According to castanet.net, Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw held a press conference to update the public on arrests made in connection with several shooting investigations, including shots fired at the U.S. Consulate in March.

Const. Marc Pinizzotto, 43, a veteran officer, was shot last Thursday during a search at an apartment building in the city's northwest and later died in hospital.

Nicholas Bennett, 19, who was also shot by police during the incident, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators said they were still searching for a second suspect, 19-year-old Zara Jabbi, wanted in connection with the U.S. Consulate shooting and believed to be armed and dangerous.

Demkiw addressed reporters alongside chief Superintendent Joe Matthews of detective operations.
