A burst of violence struck a Toronto neighborhood Saturday night when shots rang out close to the annual Salsa on St. Clair celebration, leaving two individuals dead and five others wounded.
The incident unfolded shortly after 8:10 p.m. local time in the vicinity of the popular street festival. Law enforcement officials issued alerts through social media advising residents to steer clear of the affected zone.
Investigators have not yet released identities of those killed or detailed how the attack transpired. The wounded victims' conditions remain undisclosed.
The individual believed responsible remains fugitive. A substantial police deployment has converged on the location, with search efforts ongoing.
The episode comes on the heels of another deadly shooting in Canada last month, when an officer and a civilian were slain in Montréal. That assailant also perished.
