Murder of Robert Prevost in Rockland: Luc Décarie arrested and charged

A 51-year-old man has been arrested for the first-degree murder of Robert Prevost, whose body was found in the Ottawa River in May 2025.

Arrest in Prevost case: suspect charged more than a year after disappearance

According to ici.radio-canada.ca, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested Luc Décarie, a 51-year-old man from Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Quebec, in connection with the murder of Robert Prevost in Clarence-Rockland.

Décarie faces three charges: first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and conspiracy to commit murder. He remains in custody pending his appearance at the L'Orignal courthouse, scheduled for Friday.

The body of Robert Prevost, aged 63, was discovered in the Ottawa River on 17 May 2025. A week after the discovery, the OPP confirmed the victim's identity and ruled his death a homicide. Prevost had been missing since February 2025.

The investigation is ongoing, the OPP stated, and are urging the public to provide any useful information to Russell County or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
