A 43-year-old police officer was killed during a raid in the Canadian city of Toronto on Thursday morning local time.

According to Police Chief Myron Demkiw, a shootout occurred during the operation. Besides the officer, another suspect was injured and taken to hospital. The officer died from his injuries, while the other man continues to receive medical treatment.

A 19-year-old suspect remains at large following the incident. Police believe he is armed and dangerous. Demkiw did not confirm whether the young man was the shooter.

The operation was connected to investigations into shots fired at the US Consulate in the city in March. At that time, unknown individuals had fired handguns at the building, but no one was injured.
