Whitby man charged with exploiting teen girl; Durham Police fear more victims
A 65-year-old Whitby man has been charged with sexually assaulting and exploiting a 16-year-old girl, with police warning that additional victims may exist, Toronto Sun Crime reports.
Durham Regional Police said their special victims unit wrapped up an investigation late last month after receiving a complaint that a man had allegedly sexually assaulted and exploited the teenager in 2021. The victim was employed by the accused between July and October of that year.
"Police have concerns there are other victims and are requesting anyone with information to come forward," Sgt. Nicholas Gluckstein said in a news release.
Ahmed Ashraf has been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He was released on an undertaking.

Man in his 30s shot in Rexdale; suspect fled in dark vehicle
Toronto Police are also investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Rexdale, leaving a man with serious injuries.
According to Toronto Sun Crime, officers received reports at approximately 4:20 p.m. of a man being shot in the Humber College Blvd. and Westmore Dr. area. A male victim in his 30s was located with gunshot wounds and transported to hospital in serious condition.
A suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call 416-808-2300.
Two serious collisions in Toronto on Wednesday afternoon
Toronto Police responded to two separate traffic collisions the same afternoon, both leaving victims with serious injuries.
The first crash occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. at Kingston and Manse Roads in Scarborough, where a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck. The pedestrian was transported to hospital via emergency run with serious injuries. The driver remained at the scene, and a westbound lane on Kingston Road was temporarily closed before being partially reopened.
The second collision involved a female cyclist in her 20s and a car in the Grace and Harbord Streets area of Little Italy at around 3:15 p.m. The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver also remained at the scene. Road delays and closures were expected in the area following the crash.
