According to ca.news.yahoo.com, Winnipeg police have identified the victim of last week's fatal altercation on Sargent Avenue as Darrell Kablalik, a 48-year-old originally from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, who had been living in Winnipeg.

Officers were dispatched to a basement suite between Beverley and Spence streets shortly before 11 a.m. on May 24, following reports of a fight. Kablalik was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

The Winnipeg Police Service announced Tuesday that Oluwatosin Akisanya, 40, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death and is being held in custody. Akisanya was arrested near the residence, police said.
