Tenth homicide of the year in Montreal after fatal shooting at Turin Park

A young man was shot and killed at Turin Park in Montreal's Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough late Wednesday night, cbc.ca reports.

Montreal police, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), received multiple 911 calls around 10:30 p.m. Officers arriving at the scene found the victim unconscious near the intersection of De Lanaudière and De Castelnau streets, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said paramedics performed CPR but were unable to revive the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.

The death marks the city's tenth homicide of the year — coming approximately one day after the ninth.

Chèvrefils said investigators recovered shell casings at the park and will review footage from nearby security cameras. A canine unit was also deployed to assist in the investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unknown, and no arrests have been made.
