The Joint Court of Justice has handed Amon F. a 15-year prison term for participating in a brutal home invasion that claimed the life of Royal Marechaussee adjutant Toon Brood on 31 May 2024. The same panel cleared him of an unrelated killing, ruling that prosecutors had not presented enough proof. This was reported by nu.CW.

Several men forced their way into the residence on Reigerweg. Brood went to investigate and was shot. His wife and son were inside and could only watch helplessly as the intruders ransacked the house and made off with valuable goods. The officer later died from his injuries.

Although Amon F. did not fire the fatal round, the court found that he acted as a co-perpetrator in the break-in and was armed with a firearm at the time. He was therefore convicted of qualified manslaughter and illegal possession of a weapon.

F. had also stood accused of killing a 25-year-old man on Brionweg in September 2023. A lower court had found him guilty, but the appellate judges overturned that verdict, citing too many uncertainties surrounding the evidence and the identification of the actual shooter.

The lower court had originally imposed a combined 26-year sentence for both matters. An appeal to a higher court remains possible.
