The highest court in the Emirates gave the green light for the handover, and the suspect was subsequently transferred to the island, 721news.com reports.

Prosecutors in Curaçao first asked for the man's return in September 2024. The legal fight dragged on for about twelve months because the suspect appealed the decision. His removal now marks a significant advance in the THEMIS INVESTIGATION.

That probe is looking into an organized crime ring believed to be behind killings, major drug shipments, and money laundering on Curaçao and St. Maarten. A number of people tied to the case have already been sentenced. Officials say the inquiry is far from closed and further detentions cannot be ruled out.
