Toxicology tests on British father come back negative in Paphos child death probe
Laboratory tests carried out on a British man whose three-year-old son fell to his death from a hotel in Paphos have returned with no traces of substances, according to law enforcement officials.
The child's father has been held in custody since Monday, after magistrates approved an eight-day detention order. Investigators are looking into whether he may have caused the fatality through negligence, as well as potential violations of his duties as a parent and caregiver.
Cyprus Mail reported that police spokesperson Vyron Vyronos confirmed on Tuesday that the toxicology screening was finished and yielded no findings. Officers are still collecting witness accounts, and once the inquiry concludes, the dossier will be sent to prosecutors for guidance on next steps.
The family had arrived on the island for a vacation before the tragedy occurred. State services have provided counseling support to relatives following the incident.
