Man, 34, apprehended following Paphos pursuit and crash
Officers detained a 34-year-old male in the Paphos area after he sped away from a patrol unit and later crashed.
The sequence started around midnight on Wednesday when a routine patrol tried to pull the motorist over. Rather than stopping, he hit the accelerator and fled.
The pursuit continued until the suspect lost command of his car and ploughed into the garden area of a private residence.
Law enforcement placed him under arrest on several counts: reckless operation of a vehicle, refusing to halt for an official check, and driving without valid documentation or coverage.
Subsequent testing showed the individual had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol. The measured result stood at 76 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath — far exceeding the statutory ceiling of 22 micrograms.
