Police detained 14 individuals during coordinated preventive operations carried out nationwide on Sunday night, according to an announcement issued Monday by the authorities. Officers intensified patrols and inspections throughout urban centres in an effort to curb serious criminal activity, uphold public order and strengthen citizens’ feeling of safety.

The suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of several violations, among them unlawful drug possession, residing illegally in the Republic, attacking an officer, possession of a blade and various traffic infractions. Over the course of the night, law enforcement stopped 490 automobiles and verified the identities of 657 occupants. In addition, 46 premises were inspected as part of the drive against illicit behaviour, producing two official reports.

Road-safety controls yielded 212 traffic violations, with another 23 possible breaches still being examined. Ninety-one of the recorded incidents involved excess speed, and a dozen vehicles were seized for investigative purposes. Breathalyser checks totalled 309, leading to 36 citations. Three rapid drug screening tests were administered; all came back positive.

The force stated that daily crime-prevention initiatives will continue, featuring a heavier police footprint, selective spot checks and swift tactical response. These steps are designed to safeguard residents, preserve order and bolster public confidence.
