Cypriot police arrest 51-year-old fugitive in drug trafficking case
Officers in Cyprus have taken a 51-year-old man into custody after he spent nearly two years as a wanted fugitive in a narcotics investigation.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday. Authorities had been hunting him since July 2023 over allegations of importing and holding illegal substances for distribution, plus suspected links to an organised criminal group.
Back in the summer of 2023, law enforcement published his image and personal information to the public in an effort to locate him. A female associate, aged 27, had already been captured in connection with the same operation during that period.
Following Monday's arrest, investigators placed the man under detention for interrogation. The country's dedicated drugs unit, Ykan, remains actively engaged with the case.
