Officers detained ten people during night-time operations for offences including drug possession, assaulting an officer, carrying a knife and handling stolen goods.

Officers detained ten people during night-time operations conducted across the island, the force announced on Thursday.

Those taken into custody faced accusations including possession of narcotics, attacking a police officer, carrying a blade, receiving stolen property, failing to appear before a court, and residing in Cyprus without valid documentation.

During the sweep, personnel stopped and inspected 573 motorists and 143 passengers. They also examined 37 premises, leading to six complaints.

Roadside checks produced 283 violation notices. Among those, 93 motorists were caught exceeding speed limits. Six vehicles were impounded during the inspections.

A total of 91 breathalyser tests were administered, resulting in two citations. Two drivers also failed preliminary narcotics screening tests.
