A nationwide police operation on Saturday night in Cyprus led to thirteen arrests and hundreds of violations, including an assault on an officer and numerous drink-driving offences.

Thirteen individuals were taken into custody during a coordinated nationwide police operation carried out on Saturday night across Cyprus. The sweep produced hundreds of traffic and criminal citations, according to an announcement from law enforcement authorities.

Those detained face accusations spanning multiple offences. Charges include possession of stolen goods, unlawful presence in the Republic, being drunk in public, attacking a member of the police force, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and various other road-related breaches.

Officers halted and inspected 699 motorists and 264 passengers throughout the night. The checks yielded 303 traffic citations, while another two dozen incidents remain under active inquiry.

Excessive speed generated the highest volume of reports, with ninety-six drivers cited for breaking the limit. Authorities also seized twenty-one vehicles during the course of the operation.

Breathalyser screening was administered to 411 people. Thirty individuals were reported for alcohol-related driving violations. Additionally, one motorist returned a positive result in an initial roadside narcotics test.
