Law enforcement carried out sweeping overnight operations throughout the island, resulting in ten individuals being placed under arrest. Officers also handed out 337 tickets for road violations.
Those detained face accusations spanning multiple offences. These include physical attacks, extortion, failure to attend court hearings, possessing stolen goods, residing in the Republic without authorisation, carrying blades, and holding offensive weapons.
During the coordinated actions, patrols stopped and inspected 637 motorists and 291 passengers. Traffic checks produced 337 penalties for breaches of highway regulations, while another 14 possible violations remain under examination.
Speeding dominated the infractions, with 195 drivers reported for exceeding limits. Ten automobiles were seized by authorities.
Officers administered 134 breath tests, leading to five motorists being cited for alcohol-related breaches. An additional five individuals failed preliminary roadside checks for substance use.
Inspections were also conducted at 37 establishments, generating six further reports.
