Police in Cyprus detained thirteen individuals during countrywide operations carried out on Wednesday night, authorities announced on Thursday.
Those arrested face accusations ranging from car arson and unlawful drug possession to knife-carrying, holding forged paperwork, and distributing fake currency, according to the Cyprus Mail (https://cyprus-mail.com/2026/07/23/thirteen-arrested-in-nationwide-police-operations).
During the crackdown, law enforcement screened 680 motorists and 227 passengers, and visited 42 establishments, handing out three citations.
A total of 339 traffic fines were issued, while nine further offences remain under probe.
Excessive speed topped the list of violations, with 89 motorists cited. Officers also seized five vehicles.
Breathalyser checks on 165 people yielded six positive readings, and one motorist failed an initial narcotics screening.
