A serving member of the police force in Cyprus opened fire on his 46-year-old wife on June 30, inflicting life-threatening injuries, before ending his own life. The wounded woman is currently receiving intensive care at a private medical facility, a spokesperson for law enforcement confirmed to the Cyprus Mail.

The gunman, who was himself an officer, died immediately after the self-inflicted wound. His partner remains in grave condition.

In an unrelated episode of intimate-partner violence, a 38-year-old female is recuperating in stable condition at Nicosia general hospital following an alleged assault with a sharp object by her previous spouse on June 27. The victim's mother, aged 58, who was also harmed during the same confrontation, has been released from hospital care.

Investigators have not reported fresh leads in the blade attack. The individual accused in that matter, aged 35, is still evading capture.
