According to Yle.fi, Central Finland police conducted an intensive monitoring operation in Jyväskylä city centre, which concluded on Sunday 24 May. The monitoring lasted nearly three weeks.
According to police, the operation aimed to maintain a sense of security among people using and working in the city centre.
During the monitoring, police intervened in disorderly conduct, removed 171 people from the area and made 26 arrests. In addition, 17 wanted persons were apprehended.
Seized items included drugs, money and one firearm. Police moved about the area in both uniformed and plain-clothes patrols — in the city centre, at the harbour and in shopping centres.
According to a statement from the Central Finland police force, the security situation in the city centre areas has remained at the level of previous years.
