The rescue department was alerted on Tuesday at 11.30 to extinguish a fire in Espoo's Säteri district on Linnoitustie. The fire destroyed an abandoned detached house completely. Ten rescue units took part in the extinguishing efforts.
Police suspect the fire was deliberately set. A young adult man was located near the scene who is suspected of arson. He had not yet been questioned on Tuesday.
The fire did not spread to neighbouring properties and caused no injuries. Aftercare extinguishing work was estimated to take around four hours. A visible cloud formed from the dark smoke, which could be seen far away as far as Lauttasaari in Helsinki.
