A 43-year-old American woman was found bludgeoned to death in the Irish home she shared with her teenage daughter on Tuesday afternoon, according to police sources cited by Philenews.
Jamie Carney, originally from New York, was discovered dead in her bed by her 13-year-old child. Investigators said her remains were located beneath a duvet in a blood-soaked bedroom. She had sustained fatal head injuries following a savage assault.
The primary suspect in the slaying is Carney's 28-year-old migrant boyfriend, Ahmad Alsaker. The pair had reportedly met during a pro-Palestine demonstration.
Alsaker is believed to have boarded a bus bound for Dublin on Tuesday morning — before Carney's death became known — and then caught a flight to Istanbul. Detectives leading the inquiry are examining his possible contacts in Turkey as well as France, where he had previously resided. Authorities are also considering whether his intended final destination may have been Syria or Jordan.
The suspect had arrived in Ireland in 2024 after filing an asylum application. Investigators believe he also spent time in the United Kingdom before travelling to Dublin.
In her final Instagram post on 4 July, Carney celebrated American Independence Day with Alsaker at her side. "Happy 4th of July everyone," she wrote. Earlier social-media photographs showed Alsaker referring to Carney with terms such as "my flower" and "my moon," and mentioning that he was learning Arabic.
