Dublin Port drug haul: €11.5m in cocaine and cannabis seized over three days

€11.5m drugs haul at Dublin Port leads to two arrests

A man and a woman have been arrested following a series of drug seizures at Dublin Port worth an estimated €11.5m in total, irishexaminer.com reports. Both individuals remain in custody at a Garda station in Dublin as investigations continue.

On Friday, Revenue officers recovered 24.5kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of more than €1.7m. A detector dog and a mobile X-ray scanner identified the Class A drug inside a refrigerated container that had arrived from Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The following day, an intelligence-led operation involving Revenue's Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau resulted in the seizure of approximately 392kg of herbal cannabis, valued at around €7.84m.

On Sunday, officers seized a further 80.5kg of herbal cannabis and 5kg of cocaine, with a combined estimated value of €1.95m. A sum of €143,900 in cash was also recovered during that operation. The drugs were found using detector dogs and X-ray scanners during a search of a truck and trailer that had arrived from Cherbourg, France.

Investigations into all three seizures remain ongoing.
