Revenue seizes €178,000 in drugs, counterfeit goods and weapons across Ireland

Revenue officers intercepted contraband worth over €178,000 in operations across Dublin, the Midlands, Kilkenny and Rosslare Europort since 20 July 2026.

Revenue operations net drugs, fake designer goods and weapons in week-long sweep

Revenue officers have intercepted contraband with a combined estimated value of more than €178,000 in a series of operations carried out since 20 July 2026, Dublin Live reports. The seizures spanned Dublin, the Midlands, Kilkenny and Rosslare Europort, and were conducted through risk profiling and intelligence-led methods.

Detector dogs Sam and Ciara assisted in uncovering the drug hauls. Parcels containing the drugs were destined for addresses across Ireland.

The largest single element of the seizure was 4.7 kg of herbal cannabis, valued at over €96,000. A further range of illicit substances, estimated at almost €18,300, was also recovered. Those substances included cannabis resin, cannabis oil, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, magic mushrooms, LSD, butane honey oil, edibles, synth cannabinoids, various tablets, and a number of novel psychoactive compounds including 0-PCE, 2F-NENDCK HCL, N-ethylhexedrone hydrochloride, 4-chloromethcathinone HC, bromonordiazepam, DPDMC, 1CP-LSD and 5-MEO-DMT freebase.

Tobacco products with an estimated value of over €41,800 were also found, representing a potential exchequer loss of more than €32,700.

Thirty-two counterfeit items, valued at over €8,800, were among the goods seized. Rights holders confirmed the items — bearing brands including Dior, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Nike, Adidas, Lacoste, Alo and Puma — infringed intellectual property rights.

Weapons and accessories with an estimated value of over €7,800 were also taken. The items included slings, nunchucks and flashbangs; two weapons and 2,600 weapons accessories were confiscated in total.

A cash seizure of €4,100 was made. Over 97 litres of alcohol — wine, beer, spirits and unlabelled unidentified alcohol — were recovered, with an estimated value of €1,450 and a potential exchequer loss of over €900.

Enquiries into all of the seizures remain ongoing. Revenue said the operations form part of its continued effort to tackle smuggling and shadow economy activity. Members of the public or businesses with information on smuggling can contact Revenue confidentially on 1800 295 295.
