Man charged after €592,000 drug seizure in Cork city Garda operation
A man in his 30s has been charged following the seizure of nearly €600,000 worth of suspected drugs in Cork. Cocaine and cannabis were recovered across multiple searches.

A man in his 30s has been charged following the seizure of suspected drugs with an estimated street value of €592,000, the Irish Times reports, after a Garda operation spanning Cobh and Cork city on Thursday.
The Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit and the Cork County North East Divisional Drugs Unit conducted the searches. Officers first targeted a business premises in the Cobh area before carrying out follow-up searches at a separate location in Cork city.
During the searches, Gardaí recovered suspected cocaine valued at approximately €484,000 and suspected cannabis worth around €108,000, bringing the combined estimated total to €592,000.
The man was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 before being formally charged. He is due to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court at Anglesea Street at approximately 1.30pm on Saturday.
The seized drugs have been sent for forensic analysis. Gardaí said investigations into the case are continuing.
