The suspected head of the Kinahan criminal group, an organization accused of drug trafficking across multiple countries, is being extradited from the United Arab Emirates, where he has been in custody since April.

After landing, Kinahan will be brought before the Special Criminal Court (SCC) to face charges of directing a criminal organization. Irish police, military personnel, and prison officers have formed a large security detail for his arrival.

He is expected to be moved in an armored, bulletproof van to Portlaoise maximum-security prison in central Ireland.
