Gardaí seize suspected cocaine and cash in Cork city drugs raids
A significant policing operation unfolded in Cork on Thursday, with roughly 40 officers — some from the armed response team — taking part in searches targeting drug activity.
The main focus was St Anthony's Park in Hollyhill, on the northside of the city. The raid started at about 7:45 in the morning and wrapped up just after 11am. Investigators found two parcels thought to contain cocaine, one of which was located on shared land close to the residential complex. Money was also taken as evidence.
The action is connected to a wider probe into cocaine distribution across Cork.
Later the same day, a separate residence near Evergreen Road on the southside was also searched, yielding further narcotics.
In addition, an animal welfare organisation attended the Hollyhill scene to collect creatures that were allegedly being badly neglected.
