Man sent for trial on sexual assault charge at Trim Circuit Court
A 29-year-old defendant has been ordered to face trial at Trim Circuit Court on allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in County Meath during 2024.
At Trim District Court, the prosecution indicated that the Director of Public Prosecutions had given consent for the matter to proceed to the higher court.
Judge Derek Cooney informed the accused that if he intends to present an alibi defence, he must give notice to the State within the required timeframe.
The judge further directed that any recorded interviews and available CCTV footage be provided to the defendant's legal team.
He also noted that the accused may wish to appoint new solicitors because of an ongoing legal dispute, leaving that decision entirely to the defendant.
The accused was then sent forward for trial at the circuit court level.
