Man in his 50s critical after alleged assault in Belcamp Park, Coolock
A man in his 50s is in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital after being found unresponsive in Belcamp Park, Coolock, last Wednesday evening. A teenager was also seriously assaulted in Finglas on Sunday.
Man fighting for life after Coolock park assault as gardaí seek witnesses
A man in his 50s is in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital after he was found unresponsive in Belcamp Park, Coolock, on the evening of Wednesday, 20 May, the Irish Times reports.
An Garda Síochána said the man was discovered at approximately 6pm following a call about an unresponsive individual at Clonshaugh Park. Emergency services attended the scene, which was subsequently preserved for technical examination. The man was transferred to Beaumont Hospital with what gardaí described as "serious injuries".
Investigators are treating the matter as an "alleged serious assault". The incident is understood to have taken place in Belcamp Park, near the Clonshaugh Park estate entrance closest to Clonshaugh Lawn. Gardaí said they are pursuing "numerous avenues" of inquiry, including the possibility of a disagreement between two parties.
An appeal has been issued for anyone who was exercising in the park, near the Clonshaugh Park entrance to Belcamp Park, or on Clonshaugh Drive between 5.30pm and 6.30pm that evening to come forward. Gardaí are also seeking camera or dashcam footage from the area. Teenager seriously injured in separate Finglas incident
In a separate incident, a young man in his late teens was brought to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries after an assault on Tolka Valley Road in Finglas last Sunday at approximately 3.30pm.
Investigations are ongoing. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information who may have been in the Tolka Valley Road area between 3pm and 4pm on Sunday to come forward. Those with camera or dashcam footage are asked to make it available to investigators.
