Google News IE — Crime (en) reports that a man in his late 20s has been charged in connection with a burglary that took place in Skibbereen, Co. Cork, in October 2023, following a sequence of arrests earlier this week.

The man was first detained on Wednesday, March 18, as part of a garda investigation into the criminal damage of agricultural equipment in Drimoleague, west Cork, in July 2025. That inquiry also encompasses the theft of cattle, further burglaries, and the criminal damage of agricultural and construction machinery across the west Cork region.

An Garda Síochána confirmed in an initial statement that the man was held at a garda station in the west Cork area under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He was subsequently released from custody on Thursday, March 19.

Shortly after his release, the man was rearrested and charged in relation to the separate Skibbereen burglary. He is understood to have appeared before Bandon District Court on Friday, March 20.

A file is to be prepared and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to the original criminal damage matter arising from the first arrest.
