A young traveller was taken into custody at Dublin Airport after customs officials discovered a large quantity of herbal cannabis hidden inside his bags. The find, made on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, consisted of roughly 13.7kg of the drug with an estimated worth surpassing a quarter of a million euros.
The haul was found packed in vacuum-sealed parcels concealed within the passenger's luggage. He had arrived on a plane that departed from Spain. Revenue staff, who are running ongoing operations against criminal networks involved in narcotics trafficking, made the interception.
An Garda Síochána arrested the man, who is in his twenties, and he is being questioned under drug-trafficking legislation at a station in the capital. Police confirmed the probe is continuing.
