A male suspect is in custody following the death of a Latvian man from apparent knife injuries sustained at a dwelling in the countryside of County Leitrim.
The deceased was discovered at a property in Arderry, a rural area near Mohill, after Gardaí responded to reports of an incident at the location. He had suffered wounds consistent with a blade attack.
Investigators detained a man for questioning in connection with the killing. It has emerged that the individual arrested had previously been on friendly terms with the victim.
The body of the deceased remained at the scene as officers from the Garda Technical Bureau carried out forensic examinations. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Gardaí have appealed to members of the public who may have information about the events leading up to the fatality to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
