Suspect freed as North Kerry cocaine probe continues
A man detained over a major drugs find in Listowel has been let go pending further investigation, according to Radio Kerry.
On Monday, local detectives and specialist anti-narcotics officers carried out searches at multiple addresses in the north of the county as part of a targeted operation. They uncovered what is believed to be cocaine with a street value of around €17,000. Searches of two houses in the Listowel district also yielded upwards of €8,500 in currency and several handsets.
The suspect, who is believed to be in his late thirties, was transported to a police station for interview. He was subsequently freed without being charged. The illicit substances will now undergo laboratory testing by Ireland’s forensic science laboratory. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the case papers will be forwarded to prosecutors, while enquiries continue.
