A man in his 30s has been charged after allegedly attacking three gardaí who were attempting to arrest him in Newbridge, County Kildare.

Officers on routine patrol in Newbridge, County Kildare, were set upon by a male detainee on Monday evening, leaving all three requiring hospital care.

The incident unfolded when gardaí moved to take the individual, aged in his 30s, into custody. Rather than comply, the man lashed out, striking the officers and forcing them to seek medical attention afterwards.

Following the altercation, he was transported to a local station in the county and formally charged. He was expected to face Naas District Court in relation to the matter.

Law enforcement officials indicated that enquiries remain active.
