Suspect charged over 2021 gun murder of Ballymun father Patrick Lyons

Detectives have filed charges against a detainee in his forties linked to the slaying of Patrick Lyons, a parent who was gunned down at a residence in north Dublin over five years ago.

Lyons, aged 44, perished from several bullet wounds inflicted at Belclare Terrace in Ballymun on 11 February 2021. The victim left behind one child.

Officers apprehended the suspect on Sunday amid an ongoing probe into the killing. He was subsequently charged and appeared at an unscheduled evening hearing of Dublin District Court inside the Criminal Courts of Justice complex at 7 pm, as reported by The Journal.

Law-enforcement officials say the investigation is still proceeding. They have not indicated whether additional suspects may be taken into custody.
