A vehicle driver is set to face charges after officers found a large quantity of untaxed cigarettes and tobacco in County Longford.

A vehicle driver is facing prosecution after officers discovered approximately €150,000 worth of untaxed cigarettes and tobacco inside a car in County Longford.

The find was made during targeted operations aimed at disrupting the black-market trade in tobacco products. Alongside the vehicle inspection in Longford, enforcement teams also searched vaping retail premises in Castlebar, Drogheda and Carlow. An additional raid had been carried out the previous Thursday.

The driver is now due to appear before the courts in relation to the seizure.
