According to The Irish Times, the driver had taken a wrong turn and was attempting to turn the vehicle around when the crash occurred. The Swedish passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to The Sun. Two other cars were involved in the collision, and three people received treatment for minor injuries.

Irish authorities have identified the deceased man. They also say they know the identity of the second Swede, who fled the crash site on foot. According to The Sun, he left his mobile phone behind in the car. A nationwide alert has been issued to track him down, and ports and airports are being monitored in case he attempts to leave Ireland.
