A reported stabbing in north Belfast has resulted in three people being taken into custody, with two police officers injured in the process.

The alarm was raised at around 8.40pm on Thursday in the Fortwilliam Park area. First responders provided emergency care to a man at the location before he was transported by ambulance to receive treatment for wounds to his head and hand.

As reported by BreakingNews.ie, the situation turned violent when two of those detained began acting aggressively towards officers. This hostility continued after they reached the custody suite, where two officers were physically attacked.

The individuals arrested include a 22-year-old facing allegations of wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, assaulting police, and carrying an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence. A 31-year-old was also detained on suspicion of wounding with intent, assault on police, and attempted criminal damage. The third suspect, aged 35, was held on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon with intent and theft.
