Officers from An Garda Síochána and Revenue carried out searches across multiple counties, uncovering cannabis edibles, vaping products and cigarettes laced with controlled substances. The total street value of the haul is estimated at roughly €2 million, Shannonside.ie reports.

The raids took place on July 2nd and 8th, targeting five commercial outlets and two private homes. Locations included Castlebar, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Kildare and Drogheda.

Among the items recovered were jelly sweets containing cannabis, vape cartridges with cannabis oil, and cigarettes infused with THC and HHC.

Two males were taken into custody in Mayo and Longford. They are being questioned at stations in the midlands region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The nationwide crackdown falls under Operation Tara, the enhanced anti-narcotics initiative. Units involved included the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, Customs Revenue, and local drugs squads from Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Kildare and Drogheda.

The confiscated material will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for testing.
