Detectives in west Dublin discovered a pistol, cartridges and a suppressor during a Tuesday raid linked to organised crime groups.

The search took place in the Mulhuddart district, within the Blanchardstown area. Officers involved were pursuing inquiries into criminal networks operating locally.

What they found included a 9mm handgun, live rounds and a silencer device.

Following the discovery, officers detained two suspects — one adult and one minor. Both were still being questioned by gardaí.
