A learner driver who was travelling without a qualified accompanying driver has been arrested in Kilkenny after failing a roadside drug test for cocaine.

The motorist was stopped by gardaí in the county. Officers found that the driver was operating on a learner permit but did not have the legally required fully licensed driver in the vehicle.

A roadside drug test was administered, and the driver tested positive for the presence of cocaine.

Gardaí arrested the individual at the scene. The vehicle was also seized.
