Girl's body found with slashed throat in Trelawny; mob injures two men

A child's body was discovered in bushes in Pyre district, south Trelawny, her throat slashed. Residents launched a mob attack on a man accused of the killing, injuring him and his father.

The body of a young girl was found with her throat slashed in bushes in Pyre district, near Troy in south Trelawny, at around 6:00 pm on Tuesday, the Jamaica Observer reports.

A farmer discovered the body while searching for his cow, according to a resident who spoke to the Observer on condition of anonymity. Residents allege the child was raped before her death.

Following the discovery, an angry mob attacked a man locals accused of killing the girl. His father was also wounded in the assault. Both men were taken to hospital; their conditions are not known.

Police are on the scene. Efforts to obtain a comment from officers on Tuesday evening were unsuccessful.
