A 14-year-old and a 15-year-old girl have been detained by officers in connection with an alleged assault on a pensioner in Morant Bay, St Thomas, during the early hours of Sunday.

Law enforcement officials say the pair face possible charges of attempted homicide, plotting to kill, and petty theft. The encounter took place at approximately 3:00 am on July 5 inside a rented villa.

Detectives believe the older man had arranged to meet the adolescents for a sexual liaison. Before the gathering, the youths allegedly bought duct tape, blades, a tarpaulin, and various other materials. The pensioner allegedly collected them the night before and transported them to the location by vehicle.

During the purported sexual encounter within a hired room, the man was allegedly set upon. He received several blade injuries to his facial area, throat, and upper torso. Wounded, he nevertheless broke free and warned other people staying at the villa. The duo then escaped in the victim's automobile.

When officers arrived, they discovered the bleeding pensioner. He was rushed to a medical facility, where medics describe his state as critical.

Personnel from the St Thomas Police Force captured both suspects later that same day. The probe is continuing.

Online commenters have demanded a comprehensive inquiry. One social-media user asked to hear the adolescents' version of events, while another argued that if minors are mistreated they should report it rather than resort to violence, adding that the pensioner should also face arrest since the girls are below the age of consent.
