A 40-year-old Kingston music producer accused of raping a young woman in 2020 has been fully exonerated after the presiding judge agreed with his lawyers that the evidence was too weak to proceed.

The trial judge upheld a no-case motion filed by defence attorneys Peter Champagnie, KC, and Patrice Riley. They contended that the female complainant had proven herself untrustworthy under questioning, with her courtroom statements failing to match what she had originally told investigators.

Key discrepancies emerged during cross-examination. The woman testified that following the alleged violent assault, she took food from the man she accused. She also acknowledged sending him a text roughly fifteen minutes after departing his room, inquiring about a lighter she had forgotten and asking him to return it to her.

Pressed to explain these glaring contradictions, she offered no coherent response. Additionally, she confessed that despite having friends nearby when the supposed attack occurred, she chose not to alert them because she was concerned for the accused's safety.

The producer consistently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that he and the complainant had been engaged in a consensual affair that came to light when her boyfriend discovered it.

After five days of hearings, the judge threw out the charge, bringing the matter to a close.
