A police constable has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and a firearms charge over the 2025 killing of his girlfriend D'Jonnay Graham in Richmond, St Mary, and will be sentenced in Kingston.

A policeman who gunned down his girlfriend last year in a northern St Mary community will have his punishment decided in the capital after admitting to the lesser homicide count on Wednesday.

Patrick Walters, a constable, accepted guilt for the slaying of D'Jonnay Graham on June 25, 2025, in Essex district, Richmond. He also affirmed that he employed a gun while carrying out a serious offence, in breach of section 14(2) of the Firearms Act. On the murder indictment, he entered a denial but acknowledged the reduced manslaughter allegation.

Prosecutors at the Director of Public Prosecutions' office issued the charging instructions to the Independent Commission of Investigation on July 17, 2025. The matter was heard this week in the St Mary Circuit Court before being earmarked for Kingston's Home Circuit Court, where sentencing will take place on September 25 next year.

The officer remains in detention until the hearing.
