Gunfire erupted near a gambling venue in Temple Hall Square, St Andrew on Friday evening, claiming the life of a young worker and leaving a woman and another man wounded, the Jamaica Gleaner reports.

The slain individual was named as Rolando Williams, aged 29, who worked as a labourer and lived in the Temple Hall community. The two survivors — a male and a 53-year-old female — were taken to receive emergency care following the barrage of bullets.

According to accounts, the violence broke out at approximately 10:00 p.m. in the area surrounding the gaming establishment. Residents reported hearing a series of loud bangs, prompting a police response to the location.

Upon reaching the scene, officers found Williams sprawled on the ground, bleeding heavily from projectile injuries to his torso. The other casualties displayed trauma to the chest and facial regions.

Emergency responders conveyed the trio to Kingston Public Hospital. Staff there declared Williams deceased on arrival. The remaining pair were taken in for ongoing care and observation.

Detectives have launched a full inquiry into the deadly incident and are working to establish a motive and identify those responsible for the gun violence.
