JDF private held after unlicensed Glock seized in Zion Hill
Jamaica-gleaner.com reports that detectives from the St Catherine South Police Division have arrested a member of the Jamaica Defence Force on suspicion of illegal possession of a firearm.
On the afternoon of Thursday, June 4, officers acting on intelligence searched a premises in Zion Hill, Glengoffe, St Catherine. A Glock P80 pistol bearing no visible markings was recovered, along with a magazine loaded with five rounds of ammunition.
The private was taken into custody immediately following the seizure of the loaded weapon. He is being held at the Portmore lock-up in St Catherine, and his name is being withheld pending further investigations.
The police are conducting inquiries in cooperation with the army's Special Investigative Unit.
