Man Found Guilty of Fatal Bar Stabbing in Taylors Village

A St. Kitts jury has ruled that Clive Edwards deliberately killed Ashton Christopher during a violent clash at a drinking spot in Taylors Village more than eight years ago.

The defendant, now fifty-five, stood trial for the death of Christopher, who was fifty-four at the time. On the evening of 10 March 2017, tensions flared between the pair inside the establishment. The argument escalated until Edwards thrust a sharp object into the upper-right portion of Christopher's torso, inflicting a wound that would end his life.

Emergency responders rushed the bleeding victim toward JNF Hospital, but he did not survive the journey. Law enforcement officers apprehended Edwards shortly afterward and brought a homicide charge against him.

This week, jurors returned a unanimous decision finding him responsible for the unlawful killing. With the conviction secured, Edwards remains locked inside Her Majesty's Prison while judges determine how long he will spend behind bars.

The lengthy gap between the crime and the verdict illustrates how protracted murder cases can be in the Federation's courts.
