An 18-year-old resident of SOHO Village in Basseterre was killed in a shooting on the morning of April 4, 2023. Officers from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 9:55 a.m.

Upon reaching the location, law enforcement personnel discovered the lifeless body of Zion Huggins, who lived in the same neighbourhood. According to investigators, the young man was in his yard when several men approached him. He tried to flee but was gunned down during the attempt.

A District Medical Officer arrived at the scene and officially pronounced Huggins dead. Members of the Crime Scene Unit subsequently examined the area and collected evidence relevant to the inquiry.

Authorities have strongly condemned the violent act and urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could help identify and apprehend those responsible. Tips can be submitted anonymously by contacting the Violent Crime Unit at 662-3468, and all information will be handled confidentially.
